"Schwabing" - The film about the last artist in the district

Our protagonist, Otto, is the last real artist in Schwabing. He lives in a small, run-down apartment surrounded by luxury real estate and expensive cars. Otto is a quirky but lovable man who firmly believes in the charm and creativity of old Schwabing. He wants to move away, but cannot afford it as rents have exploded throughout Munich.

The real estate investors, led by the greedy fraternity member and CSU politician Wilhelm, are panicking. Without Otto, Schwabing would lose its status as an artists' district and prices could fall. They will stop at nothing to keep Otto in Schwabing - even blackmail.

Otto, who is not about to give up without a fight, joins forces with a group of newcomers who have settled in Schwabing, attracted by its old charm. Among them are the Berlin hipster Frida, who discovered the Oktoberfest drinking in Munich; the Italian barista Luigi, who loves expensive cars; and the Syrian refugee Sami, who has to get used to Bavarian life.

Together they hatch a plan to show investors that Schwabing needs more than just an artist to retain its charm. They organize a huge street party on Münchner Freiheit, with beer gardens, music and art. But Wilhelm sabotages the party by calling the police and claiming that there are illegal activities.

Otto and his friends are devastated. But then an old farmer who has heard about the story offers them his field in the Bavarian Pampa. They hesitate at first, but then accept the offer and establish a new artists' colony called Neuschwabing.

In a final confrontation, they reveal their plans to a shocked Wilhelm and the assembled press. The news hits like a bomb and real estate prices in Schwabing plummet, while Neuschwabing becomes the new hotspot.

In the final scene we see Otto and his friends in Neuschwabing, sitting on a meadow in the evening sun, drinking beer and laughing. Otto looks contentedly into the distance and says: "This is the real Schwabing."
